Emil Mühl letter and biography, 1886-2000 (bulk 1886, 2000).

The collection consists of a letter written by Emil Mühl to his brother, dated Dec. 14, '86, along with a typed transcription of the letter, a typed biography of Dr. Emil Mühl, written by Siegmar Muehl, and two photos of an army field hospital in the vicinity of Kingston. The letter provides an insight into life in the mining town of Copper City, amongst other things.

Emil Mühl was born in Hermann, Missouri on February 13, 1855. He enrolled in a medical college in Indianapolis, graduating with honors in 1881. Upon graduation, he signed up for a duty tour as a civilian "contract surgeon" with the army and was stationed near Kingston in the New Mexico Territory. At the end of this assignment, he established a private medical practice in Albuquerque.
